Many articles advise you on how to dress baby in a baby carrier or in a baby wrap. Whether to protect them from the cold or on the contrary to avoid them getting too hot in summer (us too, for that matter). But what about you? How do you dress with a baby carrier?
First thing to know is that during babywearing, baby and you share your body heat, which is an advantage in winter but it can get hot quickly in summer!
How to dress with a baby carrier in summer?
Carrying your child in summer can get warm quickly. Skin-to-skin is actually the best action for warming up.
1. The fabric
Choose breathable fabrics such as cotton (which has the advantage of absorbing perspiration) or blends containing linen, silk, bamboo or viscose. Synthetic fabrics tend to retain heat.
2. Fluidity
Don't choose clothes that are too fitted and cling to the skin — the looseness of trousers or a skirt lets the air circulate! That's more pleasant, isn't it?
3. Light colours
Black is to be avoided (even if always on trend) as it absorbs solar radiation and will keep you even warmer.
Opt for light colours — white is nice too!
Then, if you're still warm, a fan and a misting spray and you're all set :)
How to dress with a baby carrier in winter?
In this situation, the sharing of body heat between you and baby will be a real asset. As with dressing baby, the best approach is to layer up: t-shirt, then jumper, then jacket, so you can adjust according to how you feel.
Note that for comfortable babywearing in winter, there are adapted babywearing coats and jackets designed to accommodate both you and baby at the same time.
Clearly the most practical and effective solution as heat sharing is at its best. It is not a carrier in its own right; it allows you to accommodate the baby carrier or the baby wrap. The babywearing jacket or babywearing coat is specially designed to allow you to continue carrying baby close to you while protecting you both from the cold thanks to an extension panel. Just make sure to keep their airways clear.
