By stiffening, your baby is telling you something. Here are several clues to decipher what it means:
- It's an unfamiliar sensation that he needs to get used to (especially if he has been carried in a buckle carrier before).
- He doesn't like being handled during the installation but will calm down a few moments later.
- It's a position in which he doesn't feel comfortable: don't hesitate to offer him another one. This is particularly the case when the child reaches the age of 3-4 months and shows a desire to see the world.
- It's not the right time for him (he's hungry, he needs a diaper change...). It might be better to try again at a more suitable time
- It's the first time in the wrap and you're a bit tense: Baby feels your emotion and apprehension. This will fade as you gain confidence.
- He wants to see.
- He is not supported by his base in a secure way.
- He's disengaging, he's about to enter a period of falling asleep.
