Baby wraps
For the first months, nothing will ever equal the baby wrap and the skin to skin it allows. This promotes heat regulation, lactation, oxytocin ... You will have your hands free! For babies, the wrap allows you to make a transition with the mother's womb by prolonging the feeling of security. The physiological position leads to better digestion and therefore less reflux, colic.

How long can I wear my baby?

Have you ever wondered how long to carry your baby each day? Whether several hours of babywearing was too long?

Baby carrier and baby wrap: how long per day?

Carrying time can vary depending on the child's age and needs. However, it is important to keep in mind that babywearing in a wrap or a baby carrier should remain "dynamic" to allow baby to fully benefit from its advantages without experiencing the associated drawbacks. Throughout the entire carrying period, pay close attention to baby and observe their position and face. This is why we recommend varying carrying positions frequently and not keeping the child in the same position for more than two hours. Your baby will likely signal their need to stretch when they wake up from a nap in the wrap, inviting you to take them out.

If it is a physiological baby carrier or a baby wrap and the physiological position is properly maintained, there is no contraindication to carrying for hours. Observe baby's reactions, and listen to your own needs!

Tips for carrying your baby well

Carrying your baby is something you learn. Here are a few good habits to adopt so that babywearing is beneficial for both of you:

  • Check the position every time you put baby in. Baby's knees must be higher than their bottom (M position), their back nicely rounded, and their airways clear. A visible mouth is non-negotiable.
  • Change position regularly. Even in the best of wraps, it is recommended not to exceed two hours in the same position. Take baby out, stretch, and start again.
  • Listen to your body. Back pain, tense shoulders? Check the fit. A poorly tied wrap is more tiring than it is relieving.
  • Adapt as you go. The needs at birth are not the same as at 6 months. Don't hesitate to revisit our tutorials or to attend a babywearing workshop.

Is it possible to carry my baby all day long?

Yes — provided that the physiological position is correctly maintained and that you remain attentive to your baby's signals. There is no maximum duration set in stone: some parents carry for several hours in a row without any issue, while others alternate between carrying and putting baby down depending on the activity.

What matters is the quality of the babywearing, not the stopwatch. A baby who is well settled in a wrap or a physiological baby carrier benefits from the advantages of contact, thermal regulation and emotional security — with no strain on their hips or spine.

The best indicator remains baby themselves: when they wake up and wriggle, it is often their invitation to stretch. And if you feel tired or uncomfortable, the same applies — a break is in order.
